Fairy Tale Camp - Karingal, Mt Cotton

The Beenleigh Cub Scouts went to Karingal Campsite for there annual Cub Camp this year. The theme was Fairy Tales. The challenge hre was to make it less Cinderella and more mixed.

The first activity was the Campfire, where stories were spun and the songs sung with gusto.

Morning came and the Cub Scouts were sent on a Hansel and Gretel Ramble to find all the trail signs left.  Here are photos of them finding the hindden messages and pointers.

At the end of the trail they found hte Gingerbread House - ok it was the obstacle course, which they had time to test themselves on. This object of the weekend was to try and get them working as a team, didn't always work but they are getting better at it and thinking of others first.

Morning tea brings a healthy smile :)

It was then time to get dressed into costume and get ready for our next activity. See the cool outfits that many got to wear. And yes the Gingerbread man did run as fast as he could!

Goldilocks, Jessie, Alice 1 & 2 and Little Red Riding Hood!

The Cub Scouts were put the challenge, there is a theory that if you build a house in atree of old log, and make it inviting, you can possibly get fairies/elves or orges to return tothe forrest and live in the houses designed.

The only criteria is to be creativity, make it appealing and you can only use natural items inthe constructions. Yes some may have bent the rules a little but the materials were not palstic.

The efforts look really great.

After the lunhc break, the Cub Scouts were given a chance to shot arrows and bows at a target. Some did well and got into the hoop.

Contruction was next, like the Three Little Pigs the cahllenge was to build a house of cards, this did beat most of them. then they had the chance to use pool noodle peices to construct a wall or house. In the end some merge the two items together.

So to ramp up the day, and with rain coming down, the Cinderella hockey was set up in the rotunda.
This was having 2 brooms and they had to sweep the 'puck' into the goals. I have never seen so many battles and long challenges. Normally this would be played with pool noodles, btu the sweep idea was different and novel.

As always we end a great camp with a traditional Camp Photo that will go on our Camp wall.

It was a really great camp and I know all those that attended had a great time.
