Journey Card Meeting

On January 29, 4 new cubs were given the opportunity to go through the journey card they need to complete before being invested as a Cub Scout.

Bagheera, Rama & Dingo, plus our group secretary, Yvette, were on hand to go through the 6 sessions on what it takes to be a Cub Scout.

The cubs go through what it means to be a cub scout, why we shake with the left hand, what a good turn is, who Lord Baden Powell is, plus other activities They need to be ready to take the step in being a cub.

This is the first time we have run something like this and there were moments that will need tightening if we do it again. But all in all it was great 2 hours. The new cubs are now ready to be invested thus coming Tuesday.

I am really looking forward to 2011 as I feel we now have a great group of cubs and the 4 new cubs are going to be a great addition.

Week 1 - February 1 - 6:30pm

Well, we have one week to go until we return to Cubs.

This week the leaders are finalising the first months activities and planning for the Sleepover in March and the Camp in May. We are in for a very big year and our numbers are likely to increase.

On the first night back we have special guests attending as one (maybe 3) of our Cubs will be awarded the highest badge they can earn on first parade. This is also a chance for us to celebrate the new night after so many years on a Friday night. The new night is a testament to the growth of our group after some seriously lean years.

During the first night back we will mostly be having a games night, and reintroduce everyone to the Scouting history and rules of being a Cub Scouts.

We are all lookong forward to Feb 1, please come along in full unifrom and bring a smile or 2.

Special On Off Day - Saturday Jan 29

To the new members of our Cub Pack. On Saturday, Jan 29 from 10am to 12pm, the leaders are inviting you to attend a special session to prepare you for you Journey into Cubs.

By coming along you will learn:

• What cubs is all about


• the Jungle Book law


• Who your leaders are


• What it means to be a Cub


• About Earning Badges


• And have some fun

Once you have completed the Journey and have completed 4 weeks with us you can be invested into Scouting.

Please come along, we have fun filled activities for you to take part in

Well done Cubs

Our cubs provided a great support and lots of enthusiasm to our appeal today. They were prepared to hand out flyers and were very respectful to everyone they met.

Looks like it will be a great 2011!

Welcome to the Beenleigh Cubs Blog. This is where I intend to post details of our activities inthe future.

2011 is gearingup as a huge year for us. We have pleanty of cool activities and badge to earn. There will be 3 major projects, World Environment Badge, WaterWise Badge, Community Garden project. On top of this we are establishing a Pen Pal connectiont othe Anthem Pack 432 in Arizona NV USA.

Den nights will inclde the normal Boomerang work but be heavily focussed on fun.

The other events we have planned are as follows:

• Sailing in November


• Regional Pirate Camp


• Cub Pack Movie Camp


• Sleepover and Theatre Sports day


• Trip to Stradbroke Island for a Cultura Day


• Plus mnay other cool things.
